COMMENTARY

Dr Ang Jury, Chief Executive of the National Collective of Women's Refuges talks to the Rotary Club of Wellington on 15 June 2020.

Dr Jury gives a poignant presentation about NZ's dark domestic violence stats and the role of the Women's Refuge in combating it's impacts. NZ has the highest level of reported domestic violence in the OECD, and Women's Refuge lines handle about 233 calls per day.  The Refuge aims to take an empowerment approach in how it works with women seeking refuge - working alongside them and mainly providing options and support.
