Major Activities

Each year the Rotary Club of Wellington and its associated charitable entities make grants worth many hundreds of thousands of dollars to worthwhile projects in the region, nationally and internationally.

In the past, RCW engaged in an annual major joint-fundraising project with iconic Wellington Department Store, Kirkcaldie & Stains. Beneficiaries have been the animal hospital at Wellington Zoo and The Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation.

Each year RCW organises the very successful Jumbo Tennis Event to raise funds for Junior Tennis in Wellington and in 2012 the Wellington Free Ambulance.

In 2011 we introduced an annual Rotary Forum programme to provide an opportunity for Wellingtonians to discuss matters of great moment.

In 2012 we inaugurated the Sir Paul Callaghan Awards for Young Science Orators to commemorate the legacy of one of New Zealand's greatest scientists and the annual Eureka! Symposium where the SPC Awards are contested.

In 2015 we began the Rotary Club of Wellington Akina Social Enterprise awards where community groups pitch their projects for a share of prize money and the opportunity to gain support from club members.

Also in 2015 we held the inagrual Singers to listen for event which showcases emerging Opera talent and raises funds for charity.
